Oak Bay has a fascinating history, with ties to some of the most important events in Canadian history. At this time the Hudson’s Bay Company had control of most of the lands that make up Oak Bay today. Some of the stately homes in and around Oak Bay were originally built and owned by 19th century railway, lumber, and mining magnates of the age.
